What It’s All About

All I ever wanted to be was a mom. Even as a child, I didn’t have ambitions to be a corporate business woman or a doctor or anything like that. I always had this dream of being a stay-at-home mom, which seemed impossible and unrealistic. My mama is a hard-working lady who raised 4 kids practically on her own so growing up I was constantly told not to rely on a man. Also, in this century, it is normal, even expected, for the woman to have a full time job. Don’t get me wrong, I commend the mama working away from home! It’s just not what I wanted.

Getting back to my point, all I ever wanted to be was a mom! It sounds crazy, even to me, because I honestly am NOT a kid person. I have no clue how to interact with other people’s children. I just feel awkward. Of course, there are exceptions (stepson, nieces, nephews, and other well-behaved kids) but until they are about 12 years old, it’s hard for me to relate to them. All that being said, I adore my son! <3 I just can’t even get over how much I love and want to be around him. Everything you hear people say that you will feel about your child is true!

So far, I have been able to stay home with my son, not that I’m not working! I have a part time job and momming is definitely my full time job (I never knew it could be so challenging!) How in the world do you get your baby to sleep through the night!? Even though it is hard, I am still living my dream. I’m able to stay home with my son and now I get to, hopefully, entertain and help others too! I want to inspire people to live their dreams as well.

Before I started blogging, I never really had the motivation to even try because I’m so shy (I failed public speaking the first time I took it 😳 ) and I always believed I would fail. Who knows, I still might fail but being able to try and put myself out there has been so amazing! I honestly think motherhood has changed me for the better because I would not have been able to start this journey without the confidence that having my son has given me. Sleepy Mama Happy Baby is all about my journey of motherhood, things that I think are cute, things I think are helpful, and things that are definitely delicious! Chelsea! I am so thankful a) you started blogging, & b) I found your blog. We were interns together in your last year of school! Since then, I had an out-of-nowhere “I WANT TO BE A MOM” epiphany during my final year of grad school. After I joined my husband in a different state (he was transferred before I graduated) we started trying. No luck yet, but I find myself daydreaming about things you used to talk about…. which is funny because you knew it long before I did.

The blog looks great, way to follow your dreams!!! 🙂
